Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepción – Architecture

The building that once was the Immaculate Conception church, now houses a laic center dedicated to cultural development. Perimeter walls and a metal structure as a skeleton of the old tower are conserved.

Current building has an entrance atrium designed as a parallelepiped, decorated in its four corners with architectural pilasters. Upper area is crowned with a semicircular arch, giving rise to a molded frieze and a cornice supporting the base of the bell tower, rebuilt as a skeleton with metal mounting brackets. Originally, the bell tower had an octagonal form with a clock on its sides, crowned with an octagonal lantern bearing the cross symbol. The central nave of the old church was reconditioned. Nowadays it is a theater that seats 153 people.

The atrium, the tower and one of the perimeter walls are under the protection of the National Monument Council. Today they are a part of the current Cultural Center of Colina.
